Ridgeback Voyage - 2026
Reynolds 520 Steel Trekking Bike
Life rarely fits into neat categories, and neither does the Ridgeback Voyage. Monday to Friday it's the bike you trust to get you to work on time — through rain, on busy roads, with a bag full of stuff — and at the weekend it becomes something else entirely: a capable, loaded-up companion for a long route through the countryside, a family outing, or the kind of ride that doesn't really have a plan.
The Voyage is built on a Reynolds 520 chromoly steel frame, a material with a long and distinguished history in trekking bikes. Steel flexes subtly under load, smoothing out road vibration in a way that aluminium simply can't match over a full day in the saddle. The geometry sits comfortably upright — relaxed enough for everyday commuting, but with enough precision in the handling that longer distances stay enjoyable rather than becoming a chore.
Gearing comes from a full Shimano Cues 2x10-speed drivetrain — giving a wide range and fine steps between gears, which makes a noticeable difference when you're carrying a load and trying to find exactly the right cadence on a long climb. The 46/30T chainset with an 11-39T cassette covers everything from steep loaded ascents to fast flats, without ever leaving you hunting for a gear that isn't there.
Lighting is taken care of by a trusted combination in the Busch & Müller Briq-S T Senso dynamo headlight (60 lux with a standlight function) powered by the Shimano DH-3D32 dynamo hub, paired with a Busch & Müller Toplight 2C rear. You'll never reach for a charger on a Tuesday evening again. Stopping is handled by Shimano MT-200 hydraulic disc brakes — reliable, low-effort and consistent whether it's a dry day in August or a soaking wet weekend in November.
The Vittoria Randonneur 700x40c tyres strike a sensible balance between rolling speed and comfort — wide enough to absorb rough tarmac and light gravel, with puncture protection that holds up to the kind of everyday rigours all cyclists are familiar with. Full-length mudguards and a sturdy kickstand complete a bike that genuinely doesn't need anything adding to it before it's ready to ride.
